A few months ago, I was asked by the Carl Cherry Center in Carmel to participate in the Becoming Visible project. The goal was to raise awareness in the Monterey community about a growing population: women, over the age of 50, who sleep outside. These women lack the resources available to men in the same situation, and as the weather is turning cold, their situation becomes even harder.
While this has been emotionally challenging and simultaneously rewarding, overall I am so glad I was able to be part of such an amazing project. We photographed, interviewed, and became friends with a group of women I might have otherwise not known. They are some of the kindest, sweetest, and most caring people I have met.
We've had a lot of press on the project, and my photos have been published in a variety of places. This is my first cover, and the article is incredible. We are hoping this is just the beginning.
